LRS, together with Dr. Ruvyn Frank (Maritzburg Orthopaedic Centre Surgeon), designed a custom total talus implant for a patient with a fractured talus. The surgery was performed at Life Hilton Private Hospital, KZN.
The implant was designed using the patient’s CT scan and by mirroring the healthy talus. This was then 3D printed in Ti6Al4V with a trabecular mesh to ensure osseointegration.
We feel privileged to provide this as a treatment option for patients across South Africa.
