LRS, together with Prof. Keith Hosking (Life Vincent Pallotti Hospital, Cape Town), designed a custom Ti6Al4V pubis implant for a patient with an aggressive radiation induced sarcoma.
The implant was designed using the patient’s CT scan. It was then 3D printed in Ti6Al4V with a trabecular mesh to ensure osseointegration. Surgical models were provided to ensure correct margins and alignment of the implant intra-operatively. Short-term outcomes are encouraging.
